Can I join the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserves, or other military duty? ======================== What are the opportunities at Robins Air Force BaseWarner Robins Air Logistics Center is the primary component located at Robins Air Force Base. An Air Logistics Center is a high-tech maintenance repair shop for every piece of equipment the Air Force owns. The items in the Air Force inventory spans the mundane to the super sophisticated fighters and bombers as seem in Desert Storm and other world-wide conflicts. Each asset is individually tracked, maintained, and repaired to ensure that our defenses are always ready to go! Warner Robins Air Logistics Center repairs and maintains the F-15 fighter, the C-130 cargo aircraft , the C-141 cargo aircraft, the C-5 cargo aircraft, the U-2 surveillance aircraft, all Air Force missiles, all Air Force helicopters, Special Operations Aircrafts, all ground based vehicles (car, trucks, etc), ground generators, space based systems, and many, many more items necessary to be prepared for war and conflicts. Other components at Robins Air Force Base include the Air Force Reserves Command Headquarters, Aircraft Flight Test, Joint Stars operational base, Combat Communications Squadrons, Air Refueling Group, etc. Check out our local web page for more details. How many logistics centers are there?The are currently three air logistics centers that comprise the necessary repair and maintenance complex for the Air Force. Warner Robins Air Logistics Center is located in Warner Robins, Georgia, which is approximately 20 miles south of Macon, Georgia or about 100 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia. Other air logistics bases are in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Ogden, Utah. Who is in charge of the air logistics center?Warner Robins Air Logistics Center is lead by a two star general. On his staff is a one star general and a senior civilian. The commander reports to command headquarters in Wright Patterson Air Force Base, near Dayton, Ohio. Command headquarters then reports to the Pentagon and the Secretary of the Air Force. What benefits are you offering?Health benefits are subsidized by the Air Force. You can choose from a variety health plan providers at VERY competitive rates. Standard worker compensation benefits are provided. Life insurance is available to you and your family at competitive rates up to 5x your annual salary. Retirement benefits include an investment program where the Air Force will match up to 5% of your salary contributions. You may contribute up to 14% for a total contribution of up to 19% of your salary. Currently, you may choose from 5 investment options, from conservative to aggressive, and may move these investments periodically to match your investment strategies. More variety is planned for the near future. Retirement benefits are augmented by social security benefit. Under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) retirement eligibility is determined by age and number of years of credible service. What investment opportunities do you offer?The primary opportunity for investment is the retirement program. This program offers employees to set aside up to 14% of your base salary, matched dollar for dollar by the government (up to 5%) for investments. These dollars may be placed into any of the following TSP Funds: Government Securities Investment (G) Fund A secondary opportunity for investment is through participation in the "EE" series bond payroll deduction plan. Various denominations are available through this plan, and partial purchases are available with bonds being issued when purchase price is reached. What health benefits are available?The government subsidizes your participation in a health benefit plan. There are a variety of plans to choose from to meet your requirements, from basic packages to HMOs. Selection is entirely up to you as employee. How much time off do I earn? Do I earn more with longevity?There are 10 Federal Holidays which are celebrated by the base. Each employee earns 13 days of sick leave per year. Sick leave is for the use of the employee, and in limited conditions, for the care of your immediate family members who are sick. New employees earn 13 days of "annual" leave per year that can be used at your discretion (with supervisory approval). Additionally, employees who have worked for the Federal government for 3 years earn 20 days of annual leave per year and at 15 years, you will earn 26 days per year annual leave. Do you have a family friendly leave policy?Yes. You are allowed to use your sick leave for the medical care of family members (within limits, based on your sick leave balances and previous family friendly use). What are my opportunities to continue my education in the local area?Very good! Georgia Tech and Mercer University (both within commuting distances) offer advanced engineering degrees. Various other colleges offer a variety of other non-technical degrees on base or at nearby campuses. Generally speaking, the Government assists in your tuition where the courses are job related (see below). Do you provide any tuition assistance for job related education?Yes. Typical job related assistance is 50-75% with some limitation. Can I join the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserves, or other military duty?Yes. Flexible military leave is extended to those serving our country through part-time military service.
