Computer Scientist DCIP Salary Package IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Our total salary package for entry-level, newly degreed computer scientists in the DCIP program is very competitive. Starting salary is determined by overall GPA and degree (BS or MS). Starting salary is not negotiable. Note: The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2010 repealed the National Security Personnel System (NSPS) pay system. Computer Scientists at Robins AFB are now hired only into the General Schedule (GS) pay system. New DCIP employees progress at specified intervals through GS grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 on their way to the targeted grade of GS-12. GS promotions in DCIP are based on “time in grade”. The Defense Career Intern Program (DCIP) is a two-year training program for entry-level computer scientists. The training program includes an individualized training plan. Performance appraisal is based on progress on the training plan. After successful completion of the two-hear training plan with at least satisfactory performance, DCIP employees are converted to career conditional. The DCIP training program is customized for each employee, based on the competencies and skills necessary to reach full performance for the assigned position. Starting salary depends on GPA and degree: BS with GPA < 3.0, GS-5, step 10 BS with GPA >/= 3.0, GS-7, step 4 MS (engineering only), GS-9, step 4 Time-in-grade promotions follow this schedule. GS-5 to GS-7, twelve months GS-7 to GS-9, twelve months GS-9 to GS-11, twelve months GS-11 to GS-12, twelve months (Promotions past GS-12 are competitive.)
