Co-op students must complete 640 work experience hours and receive their bachelor’s degree in a business related field.

Engineering Co-ops

Robins Air Force Base has a cooperative partnership with many colleges and universities throughout the southeast.

Students interested in this program must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering (not engineering technology) program.  Those selected to participate in the program take advantage of very flexible work schedules that allow them to work full-time or part-time anytime during the year.  There are no limitations on the number of hours a student can work per week as long as the student’s work schedule does not interfere with the academic schedule.  Students must satisfactorily complete no less than 640 hours of total employment in a pay status prior to graduation to qualify for conversion.

Students who complete the co-op program are eligible for conversion over to a permanent position, however the government is neither obligated to offer the graduate a position, nor is the graduate obligated to accept a position.  Juniors or seniors participating in the program may also be eligible for Tuition Assistance (if funds are available).

Students interested in participating in an engineering cooperative opportunity at Robins AFB, should send a resume to DCIP@RobinsJobs.com.

Those selected to participate in the co-op program will alternate full-time work with full-time school in six-month increments for a 2-year period, or 3 year period if A&P. Part-time employment may also be available during the six-month full-time school period. There is no guarantee of permanent employment upon graduation, but students will be eligible for this option with consideration of current employment needs. If you are interested in participating in one of the above co-op opportunities, please contact the Placement Office at one of the schools listed above.

Intern Programs

The two centralized Air Force civilian career programs for recent college graduates are:

PALACE Acquire Intern Program

COPPER Cap Intern Program

PALACE Acquire (PAQ) positions are established in the administrative, professional, and technical career fields. Target positions for college graduate interns are established at the GS-9, GS-11, and GS-12 (or NSPS equivalent) levels. Interns usually enter into a two to three year training and development program.

The COPPER Cap Program is an Air Force-managed program designed to train college graduates and place civilians within the Air Force work environment as contract specialists. Trainees are appointed at the GS-7 level and are non-competitively promoted approximately every year, based on successful performance, until they reach their target grades of GS-11 or GS-12.

In both programs, minimum eligibility requirements must be met.
